Mental Health

Keeping our children mentally and emotionally healthy is critical to the future of this community and this country.  We have an obligation to provide every opportunity for our children to succeed, particularly in the wake of recent tragedies, both locally, and across the country.

There are many risk factors that can make our children more vulnerable to mental health problems including; chronic stress, exposure to violence, difficulty in academic or social functioning, family conflict, and genetic predispositions.  Prevention and early intervention are the most effective way to treat any illness, and mental health is no exception.

Cindy’s goal in developing Rising Up is to provide both treatment and preventative services for children and/or families.  Cindy believes in providing education and understanding regarding your child’s diagnosis so that you can learn strategies to respond accordingly to your child’s needs on a daily basis, and get connected to additional resources as needed.  Cindy will work collaboratively with other professionals involved in your child’s care, and provide the same attention to your concerns that she would expect from a treatment professional.

Primary diagnosis treated include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • ADD/ADHD
  • General Adjustment to Stressful Life Events and Life Changes.
  • Parent/Child Conflict
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Developmental Trauma

Research is showing the long term physical, mental and spiritual impact of Adverse Childhood Events (ACE’s) in addition to chronic stress and toxic stress. Our bodies/minds have limits to what they can tolerate without support and reaching out to explore and heal the impact of challenging life experiences is the first step to reclaiming optimal health.

As a trauma informed and certified brainspotting therapist (offshoot of EMDR), Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Instructor, and a Certified Youth Yoga Calm Instructor, Cindy has worked to incorporate these practices into therapy to assist in the body’s recovery from traumatic events, and re-discover its innate strength, balance, and resilience. These practices are a powerful adjunct to traditional CBT, DBT and ACT approaches. She provides a safe and welcoming environment for you and/or your family to move through change, loss, illness, trauma, and other life challenges.
